The Convergence of Science and First-Person Experience & Companion Reference Document: Scientific Sources and Key Publications
Abstract
Scientific research into consciousness has produced remarkable results across multiple disciplines over the past decades. Quantum physics, neuroscience, developmental psychology, clinical research on anesthesia, near-death experiences, and psychedelics — each field delivers a fragment of the picture. But each fragment is observed from a position. And every position has blind spots.
This paper presents the major scientific findings on consciousness — without names, without arguments from authority — purely the observations. For each finding, we describe the position from which it was made and what that position can and cannot see. We then place the first-person experience alongside each finding: what becomes visible when one looks not from a position, but from direct, unfiltered awareness?
The goal is not to convince. The goal is to complete the picture. When the picture is complete, it convinces itself.
